Starting from a special interest group recognizing as Asia for Safe Handling Organization (asia4safehandling.org) with only 5 member countries including Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea, Hong Kong SAR, and Thailand, the first Asia Pacific Oncology Congress (APOPC) was inaugurated at the capital city of Thailand, Bangkok in 2006.
Since 2006, the APOPC has been held biannually and become a major oncology pharmacy practice forum in Asia. For 16 years, APOPC has grown in membership and activity as oncology pharmacy practice has been emphasized and expanded in the Asia Pacific Region. The APOPC has inspired all of us among health care providers to improve standard of practice, education, research and innovation on oncology pharmacy practice arena. As the Asia for Safe Handling Organization (asia4safehandling.org) is now transformed to Asian Pacific Oncology Pharmacy Community (APOPC), this is our new challenge to move forward our oncology pharmacy standard of practice to the next chapter.
Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, the upcoming APOPC2020/2021 Thailand Virtual Symposium during 28-30 October will allow us who practices in oncology pharmacy profession and allied health to meet and exchange knowledge, experiences and innovation toward the role of oncology health care practitioners in improving medication safety and treatment outcomes. The 8th APOPC’s theme will particularly address on “Innovation to Transform Oncology Pharmacy Practice”. By participating the APOPC2020/2021 Virtual Symposium, you will be given a distinctive opportunity to virtually network and strengthen collaboration among Asia and International oncology practitioners.
As APOPC 2020/2021 is scheduled to return to Thailand as a virtual symposium once again following the 1st and 2nd APOPC that were successfully held in 2006 and 2008. Thanks to the enthusiasm of the co-hosting organization for their strenuous effort organizing this dynamic and meaningful virtual congress. We are very confident that your time participating at APOPC2020/2021 Thailand Virtual Symposium will be productive and memorable one.
The year 2021 marks the 3rd anniversary of Asia Pacific Oncology Pharmacy Community (APOPC) as we transformed our community of practice formerly known as Asia for Safe Handling (asia4safehandling.org founded in 2004) to reflect the recent development of oncology pharmacy practice in Asia Pacific region.
To commemorate this important milestone, “Innovation to Transform Oncology Pharmacy Practice” has been selected as the main theme for the 8th Asia-Pacific Oncology Pharmacy Congress (APOPC2020/2021) and will be delivered via online platform.
วัตถุประสงค์
APOPC2020/2021 Thailand Virtual Symposium Objectives:
1. Develop collaboration in oncology pharmacy practice in Asia-Pacific region
2. Identify strategies for supportive care in cancer patients.
3. Describe recent advances in the therapeutic management of cancer patients.
4. Discuss strategies for preventing and responding to oncology related medication
errors.
5. Develop specific skills and update advances in safe handling of antineoplastic
6. Understand the basic and translational on which clinical advances are made.
Recent development in science and technology certainly have placed a profound impact on the delivery of cancer care. Therefore, the theme of the Congress will provide a platform for oncology pharmacists and related healthcare providers to come together to share their research and practice experiences in using advancements in science and technology for improving disease management and enhancing healthcare services.
On this note, the scientific program committee has put together an insightful and interesting scientific program for the 8th APOPC. Some of the best oncology pharmacy practitioners from Asia Pacific region and around the world are invited to speak at the congress.
